Greetings from Zambia! This well known Southern Africa country is located in a geographically diverse region where it borders 8 countries. This makes Zambia an excellent base for conducting social and market research projects.
Recently, one of our clients gave us an opportunity to conduct a quantitative research project here which focused on the country’s Agriculture sector.
In order to make sure everything went smoothly, we sent our Senior Field Coordinator, Paul Mboya, to make sure that the project was completed according to the requirements of our client.
Paul shared his insights below from his experience on the ground:
From the bustling streets of the capital city Lusaka to the vibrant industrial hubs of Ndola and Kitwe, and across the fertile landscapes of the Southern and Northern regions, Zambia offered not just data points – but stories, perspectives, and genuine human connection.
With English as the official language, Zambians openness and hospitality in their rich cultures and local Bemba and Nyanja languages elevated the quality of the insights gathered touching on their socio-economic and political life.
Exceptionally, our six-year agronomic longitudinal study conducted in the Central region of Lusaka Province and Eastern region of Chipata from 2014 to 2019 highlighted vital contributions of local smallholder growers to the national food supply chain. However, our media awareness surveys which delved into the Zambian media usage and attitude (U&A) offered our clients great opportunities into the Zambian techno-savvy heartland.
We appreciate the exceptional dedication of the local project teams. Their professionalism, cultural intelligence, and tireless commitment have always assured us of integrity which is necessitated by a resourceful pool of local participants and respondents.
